Making your plans? Packing your bags? Trying to figure out what to do with your favorite furry friend? Where he will have the most fun? Be the most comfortable? Or just be well cared for? A working vacation for your pup or family dog can mean a much improved, mellower- better mannered dog greeting you upon your return!
At Puppy Prep I offer a Resort Stay & Training Package that combines the methods of pack play, socializing, stimulation & exercise with continuous lifestyle positive training correction and focused training sessions throughout the day.
What does this meant to you? The round the clock attention and redirection contributes to the overall improvement in the dog's manners and bothersome behaviors. Most owners feel upon returning home , that their dog is much calmer , better behaved, and more attentive to the owner.
Call me or email me for a customized quote- relax and enjoy your vacation and let me take care of your pup with the training benefits.. as if he were my own!
Do your New Year's resolutions include improving your relationships? At work, at home, with your spouse, your body, your social network.. etc.. but have you thought about your DOG?
Having the best relationship with your dog is possible... no matter if he is a young pup, unruly teenager or adult dog. But, like any relationship.. it takes a little work. But, trust me- unlike those other relationships, it will be fun, rewarding, and results will come quickly -often in the form of sloppy wet kisses and being bathed in attention!
What we know now about dogs is no different than what we have always known about people.. the trueness of this old adage .." you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.. " Harsh correction is not necessary , especially when you take the time to develop a relationship with your dog- the basis of which can be lifestyle training.
Lifestyle training is about teaching your dog life skills that help your dog respond appropriately in different situations. His reliable behavior keeps him safe and makes it possible for him to enjoy the mental ,physical and social stimulation that comes with more freedom. His well mannered behavior is the natural result of a trusting and cooperative relationship that comes from having your dog on a learn to earn program.
Lifestyle training is what I do- in your home and in small group classes. Start your New Year off right by investing in the lifelong relationship you have with your dog. Check out my schedule of group glasses starting 1/23 at DC Ranch in Scottsdale - or feel free to call me for a consultation.
Wishing you lots of love in the form of sloppy wet kisses this New Year!
The holiday season is here and that means we are all a little merrier crazy busy! So many wonderful things to do in Scottsdale during the Holiday Season. Stay tuned here for upcoming announcements on where I will be for some Dog Lovin' Holiday fun.. and other recommendations on cool spots in Scottsdale that should top your dog's list of " Where to hang out this holiday season!" ..
In the meantime, stay smart ! Here are some quick tips for keeping your pooch happy and safe this Holiday season.
Plan Ahead. While you are doing your holiday shopping, Set aside some time and effort to plan some holiday treats for your pets too!, I like to have on hand, frozen stuffed enrichment toys, training treats, and chew toys such as bully sticks.
Teach your dog the "inside"command, should your pet dash out the door. This is a command that should be well practiced especially during this season of last minute drop-in guests for the holidays, door deliveries and if you are really lucky... an old fashioned group of carolers !
Stay Safe. Safeguard your harm from unnecessary pet hazards such as tree tinsel, water additives for your fresh tree, flavored candies , chocolates and coffee gifts that should not be left under the tree. Many of the holiday food aromas and scents that we love, may attract a hungry pup as well.
Keep your companion close. Although it is a busy time of year, don't hesitate to email me if you are looking for a pet sitter, or nearby pet resort or kennel. Keep in mind that overnight or lengthy trips away from our pets aren't healthy for our furry friends.
The heat is still on! Living in Scottsdale, we dress accordingly. Tank tops, flip flops, shorts, we carry frozen water bottles, and wear extra sunscreen. Each day we remind our kids, drink, wear your hat, sunglasses, sunscreen... but don't forget the furry members of your family. They too can get cranky from the heat, and feel tired , run down without proper hydration and safety from the effects of the summer sun. Remember that they too are a valued member of your family, but you will have to make the stay cool choices for them. They can't choose that tank top, put on their flip flops or grab the gatorade from the refridgerator shelf.
Add a second water bowl in your home to encourage more water consumption during the hot weather. Forget the Summer Cut- Most people don't realize your dog will stay cooler with his natural coat. Don't leave the AC running with your dog in the car, Air conditioning systems can fail, and the heat will increase in seconds. When in doubt, consider the heat caution you use with your children, your pet is no different.
Scottsdale Summer Fashion- It's not just for fun, sunglasses - and sunscreen can protect your pet. Finally, Get Wet- Water is a cooling, relaxing experience for all. Fill up the plastic waiting pool, and give your pet a fun, easy way to get wet and cool off. Take your pet swimming- most of all- find your fun, enjoy your pet , the summer weather, and stay safe.
